Appointment to Board of Trustees of National Football Museum
The National Football Museum is delighted to announce that Lord Faulkner of Worcester joined its Board of Trustees from July 2007. Richard Faulkner was appointed as a Labour peer to the House of Lords in 1999.
Lord Faulkner was an original Trustee of the Football Trust, later becoming its Secretary and then its Deputy Chairman, through which he helped implement the recommendations of the Taylor Report that transformed British football grounds. He was Vice-Chair of the Government's Football Task Force from 1997 to 1999. He has served as a Director for a number of football clubs, including Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion. Lord Faulkner is currently Vice-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Football Group. He has recently been appointed a Vice President of the Football Conference.
Through his interest in the National Railway Museum , Lord Faulkner is also a member of the Board of the National Museum for Science and Industry. He is also chairman of the Railway Heritage Committee.
Lord Faulkner said: “I am delighted to be joining the Board of the National Football Museum at such an exciting time in its development. I am passionate about football and I am very impressed by the work the Museum is doing to bring alive the history of the national game for the benefit of so many people.”
